Pillers

Ian came in Saturday morning with a ziploc bag with at least 15 caterpillars in it. Tomato Horn Worms to be exact. I'm not really that squeamish with bugs but a bag full of them made me want to vomit. Jade an the other hand was thrilled with them. Ian took them out after a bit and fed them to the chickens. They at first didn't know what to think because a lot of them were really big but soon understood they were being given a good meal.


Sunday Ian picked off more and fed them to the chickens immediately. When we were heading to his parents he picked more and put them in a bag again. All the way to his parents Jade cried because she wanted me to give her the caterpillars. When we got there we gave them to her and she and Papa took out one or two to look at. Jade just chattered and got excited when they moved. Soon she had to have them on Papa's pants.


She would pick them up herself but because their legs felt so weird she would shake until she could set them down where she wanted them. It was crazy how brave she was. Jade obviously didn't really want to pick them up but was willing to do it anyway. After a while she had to have them on her pants. Which was fine until they got to bare skin. She played with them for hours. Sometimes she would misplace the bag and come back looking for them, "Where, where the pillars go?".


When it was time to go Daddy made the pillars disappear. After we got the kids in bed I asked him if he fed them to the chickens. Nope. They were still in my car. When I insisted he get them out his response was, "What they are in a ziploc bag.". Gross! We started to argue about it but then I stopped the back and forth by saying it was my car and I didn't want any dead creatures in bags in my car. He went and got them out.

Unfortunately we didn't take pictures on Sunday but these pictures are from more we found today. Ian is pretty sure he has picked about 60 worms off our tomatoes. Yummy!
