My baby is going to school. I can't say I'm one of those parents that is the least bit excited about that. I would keep him home forever if I could. I made the mistake of saying that to his Daddy when he was in earshot. Teagan's response, "Mama I have to learn!" Oh yes we have thought about homeschooling but he is excited to go to school so we are going to give it a try.
I wanted to do something really special before he went to school. Mostly I just wanted to do something really special he and I because I'm going to really miss him while he is at school. I thought we could shop for his school supplies and then do some fun stuff. I looked at science museums but it seemed each exhibit once you got in was going to cost you again. Finally we settled on The Phoenix Zoo. Well I've told you how sweet he is. Teagan would not go to the zoo without his sister.
With the pregnancy I'm exhausted all the time. This trip was going to be tough just he and I with getting up early and driving. If we brought Jade there is no way I could do it by myself. She is a great baby but she gets even more tired than I do when traveling. I think maybe Ian didn't have a full understanding of Teagan's personality so he thought he would lay it out so Teagan could understand. He told Teagan that if he didn't go without sister than he couldn't go to the zoo. Not at all in a mean way but just trying to clarify. Well Teagan nearly six years old and he has been excited to go to the zoo since he was three. His response..."Then we will wait until sister can go too." What girl wouldn't want Teagan for a brother?
So we made new plans. We would shop and then go to the movies and Chuck E Cheese. That is what we did and it was so much fun. We drove over to Palm Desert since I know that area like the back of my hand now. First we went to Walmart and Teagan found a Starwars backpack that he loved. We found school supplies he will probably never need. He picked out a really cool Hulk lunchbox and water bottle. We found some fun monster truck pencils with the 3D erasers. I got some adorable pjs that Teagan helped me pick out.
After Walmart we went to Khols because I was in desperate need of some new tennis shoes. We also found some absolutely adorable dresses for sister. We finally made it over to the shoes and Teagan had to go to the bathroom. Then we made it back over to the shoes and a lady had lost her little boy Teagan's age. She was so scared and I knew the feeling from losing track of Teagan for just seconds. At that point I realised they were looking for him when we first went over to the shoes. He had been gone at least 20 minutes. Teagan and I set off to help find him. She found him finally. He had been hiding in a rack of clothes and some how got stuck. It was a good lesson for Teagan.
We made our way back over to the shoes again and I tried on what had to have been fifteen pairs. Teagan was a trooper though. He was talking to me the whole time suggesting shoes he found. Telling me the ones he liked and the ones he didn't. He even helped me put away all the ones I had gotten out. By the last three pair Teagan reminded me this way Teagan Day not Mommy Day. Of course the last pair I tried on were perfect and on clearance. Yeah for me but it took forever. With the perfect pair in my hand I announced we needed to get back to Teagan Day.
We went over to the movies. I was thinking about taking Teagan to see Journey to The Center of the Earth but was a little concerned about it being PG. Luckily they had Space Chimps. We had to wait about an hour to see it which was no problem. We played games in the arcade. Then got some popcorn. We sat and talked until the theatre opened up and then the previews went on forever. Some of them were so funny. Teagan laughed and laughed. He loved Space Chimps. It's quite the little boy movie. I liked it too. We almost missed the end of the movie because we both had to pee so bad. We stood on the side of the theatre watch the end and moved to the bathrooms as fast as our legs would take us.
After that we hit Target for just a tiny bit more Mommy Day. I had forgotten to get a couple things when we went to Walmart. By the time we got done with that it was about 8:30pm. This is usually Teagan's bedtime but we were just getting started. Chuck E Cheese is in the same shopping center. By this time Teagan was jumping up and down talking about how much he loves Teagan Day. After the movies neither of us were interested in pizza but we got a small one just in case. We had a piece and put the rest in the car because we had lots of work to do. Well playing to do anyway.
We had a full cup of tokens. Teagan would get so excited when the machines would spit out tickets. There were so many fun things to do. I just kept stuffing tickets into my purse and snapping pictures. We found a little booth were Chuck E Cheese would basically sketch your picture. We did that four times. Each pose was Teagan's idea. It was so much fun and I think we look so cute. There were still tokens to use. Teagan found a game that would give us about 30 tickets if we got the coin in just the right place. I think we got over 100 from that.
When the tokens were done our time was done. I think Teagan was a bit relieved. I'm afraid we got too many tokens and he was just happy we were finished finally. He picked out his prizes. He wanted to get something for his sister. I suggested he get her the disguise glasses. You know the black ones with the big nose and mustache. Teagan said no because they would make her look silly. Finally he had his rockets, dinosaurs and candy and we were ready to go.
Teagan slept almost the whole way home and it took him a few days to recover fully but we had so much fun. He told everyone he saw about Teagan Day. We loved it and we want to do it every year!

What fun! I love your hair by the way.
I love it! What a great idea! It sounds like he has a great time, the pictures are so cute and your hair looks great! So crazy you're shopping for school supplies with him. That makes me a little sad. I'm glad I don't have to do it for a while.
